The two million annual visitors who frequent the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago can now take home its large Beluga whales and renowned collection of sea otters.

Stuffed and plush toy versions of these animals are available at the Shedd Aquarium gift shop, which also is accessible online.

Opened in 1930, the John G. Shedd Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world, with more than five million gallons of water and 22,000 fish. Located in the center of Chicago's infamous Museum Campus, which also houses the Field Museum of Natural History and the Alder Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium is the most-visited aquarium in the United States.

Tourists who visit Shedd to see its 90,000-gallon tank reproducing a Caribbean coral reef or its 3-million-gallon oceanarium often wish to commemorate their visit with souvenirs, including books, toys, pictures and jewelry.

Dolphins are one of the most popular animals at the Shedd Aquarium. Many tourists come to see the dolphins effortlessly leap more than 15 feet high performing a myriad of flips and twists during the aquarium's popular dolphin shows. Dolphin fans have many options to choose from at Shedd's gift shop. From plush toys, to picture frames, dolphin merchandise runs the gamut from $10 to $40.

The Shedd Aquarium houses a variety of sharks, including the Blacktip Reef, Bonehead, Sandbar and Zebra Sharks. The aquarium's 400,000-gallon shark tank boasts 12-foot high windows, allowing visitors a diver's eye view. Children who marvel at the shark's empowered swagger can take home a cuddlier version of the animal. Popular items include 15-inch plush stuffed Great White Sharks and 12-inch Hammerhead Sharks which cost $12.99 in the Shedd Aquarium gift shop.

For those who visit Shedd to learn about marine life, the gift shop offers a variety of books for both children and adults. Children's books include 101 Things to Spot in the Sea, which contains puzzles and marine trivia, and the Smithsonian Handbook to Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises, which allows children to view more than 900 illustrations. Adults can read inspirational stories from Chicken Soup for the Ocean Lover's Soul and 1,000 Places to See Before You Die.

The Shedd Aquarium's current hours of operation keep the museum open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. After Memorial Day, the summer hours expand.
